The tool that I use is The Enneagram Personality System which is a well respected system taught in universities around the world and is used by professionals to assist individuals with awareness, identification and a behavior steps to develop self-awareness and self-esteem.
You might be familiar with Myer-Briggs Personality System. It was developed to identify skills competence when hiring for job placement and is a very good tool for that purpose. It identifies how the conscious mind functions when solving a problem. Frustration with this system has been reported as being cateorgized within a type set.
The Enneagram clarifies how and why our personality was formed, the patterns and behaviors that were developed and are operating unconsciously. It clearly identifies type behavior for interacting with others in communciation and language styles. This system teaches us new skills to handle anger, stress, conflict and fear.
